Basis of importance of Early Watercraft

The Early Watercraft Initiative (EW) was founded in 2015 in Vrhnika, Slovenia. After fire and tools, watercraft are among the oldest and most important human inventions. However, we can only determine how old logboats are (8200 BC) through archaeological research (AMS dating, dendrochronology). But there are other EW, which cannot be studied only through archaeological research because their components are imperishable and we can study them through traditions (anthropology, ethnology, experiments). Another important point is that the early watercraft is the only human invention that is tangible in modern times. This means that we should understand EW in a comprehensive picture. EW has direct and indirect influence on many other inventions of recent humanity such as migration, mobility, tools, sails, navigation, astronomy, compass and many others.

Participantes do congresso

Who should attend congress

The congress provided a setting to visit researchers from many fields who could not be adequately presented at their own congresses while they were on the sidelines. We would like to invite the disciplines: Anthropology, Ethnology, Archaeology, History, Experimental Studies, Geology, Hydrology, Biology, 3D Modelling Studies, Documentation, Heritage Studies, Heritage Parks, Intangible Culture Preservation, Eco Sustainable Heritage Tourism.

Special note about language

The decision on the English-speaking Congress was accepted, although there are many different languages and it is impossible to control them. This was also the reason for not separating the language groups of speakers. English is currently the most international language that can be used by researchers.

Our desire is to connect researchers all over the world.
